George Carlin: Life is Nothing More Than Pure Entertainment

"People who see life as anything more than pure entertainment are missing the point."

George Carlin (1937-2008) was an American comedian and social critic known for his acerbic brand of black comedy. Among his many career highlights include hosting the first episode of Saturday Night Live, starring in 14 stand-up specials for HBO, and posthumously receiving the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor. His famous “seven dirty words” routine was a key component of the 1978 Supreme Court case FCC v. Pacifica Foundation, which affirmed the government’s right to censor obscenity over public airwaves.
