Roohi Choudhry

Roohi Choudhry is a writer, researcher and lifelong nomad who calls Brooklyn home. She holds an MFA in fiction from the University of Michigan, where she won Hopwood and Newman awards for her writing, and where she is currently a Zell Postgraduate Fellow in Creative Writing. Her short stories have appeared in the journal Callaloo and the anthologiesDesilicious and 21 Under 40. Her nonfiction has appeared in Hyphen MagazineBitch MagazineThe Encyclopedia Project, and on Bookslut.com. She has served on the board of the South Asian Women's Creative Collective, worked as a writing workshop leader for the New York Writers' Coalition, and is a contributing editor at Fiction Writers Review. She was awarded writing residencies at Moveen, Hedgebrook and the Mesa Refuge, and is working on a novel set in Durban, South Africa.
