Rapid Freeze Traps Entire School of Fish

On a small island off the coast of Norway, the water froze so quickly that it caught a large school of fish in place.

The temperature was only -7.8°C (18 °F) on a small island off the coast of Norway. And yet, the water froze so quickly that the ice caught a large school of fish in place, as seen in the remarkable picture above. The picture was released by The Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation.

So what happened?

According to reports, a “sharp eastern wind” contributed to the rapid freezing, as wind increases the rate of heat loss.
