Ted Kennedy’s FBI Files Released
The Federal Bureau of Investigation today released over two thousand pages of its files on former U.S. Senator Ted Kennedy, who died last
year after a battle with brain cancer.
According to the bureau, the bulk of the material in the file, made public under the Freedom of Information Act, is related
to “threats of
violence and other extortion claims against Senator Kennedy and other
public officials.” The files also include information about Kennedy’s 1968
car accident at Chappaquiddick Island when Mary Jo Kopechne was
killed; information the bureau collected on Kennedy’s travels; and
material related to the Kennedy family’s place in American politics.
