Can the Age of Abundance also be the Age of Equality and Sustainability?
If we are able to create enough wealth for everyone on the planet to live full, healthy lives, can we do so without producing catastrophic damage to the planet or to ourselves?
“We really are close to freeing ourselves from the struggle for subsistence,” writesRobert de Neufville on his new blog Anthropocene. In other words, poverty is more a product of inequality than “real scarcity.”
So if we are able to create enough wealth for everyone on the planet to live full, healthy lives, as de Neufville argues, can we also do this in a way that does not produce “catastrophic damage to the planet or to ourselves”?
