Stephen Hawking: The Errol Morris Film

When two masters come together like the great filmmaker Errol Morris shooting a documentary about Stephen Hawking, one would expect the film to be on everyone’s list of favorites. But this does not seem to be the case with the little known A Brief History of Time.


Morris chronicles Hawking’s life and work before and after his paralysis from ALS. Released in 1991 and based on the book of the same name, the documentary was confined to a limited release:

Now expect the film to soon be buzzed about everywhere. MentalFloss reports:

But the big news is that the Criterion Collection will release a Blu-ray/DVD set next month. Finally, this epic film will get the treatment it deserves. In the meantime, we’ll settle for YouTube.
