There Are Too Few Web Addresses

The shortage of web addresses is "not a crisis but getting more urgent", say analysts. The web is running out of addresses and IPv6 is the answer.

Felix Cohen, a consultant from Headshift, a technology and social media consultancy, said: “The situation with web address shortages on the current system is not a crisis yet, but it is getting more urgent. However, it is not a problem for the general public to worry about.

The internet service providers and hosting providers will sort this issue out but it will be a slow process.” Analysts say that the issue has stemmed from legacy internet companies, such as Apple, owning huge sections of IPV4 space and that these ghettoes should have been better allocated and regulated.
