Awesome Bike Tires That Can’t Go Flat

The life of an average road bike tire is 1000-2000 miles and the cost of changing it between $20-30 plus the inconvenience. How about a bike tire that never goes flat and lasts up to 5000 miles?

If you opened this article, you’re probably a bike lover already, which means I don’t need to go into details about how annoying it is to have a flat tire and fixing it. The life of an average road bike tire is 1000-2000 miles and the cost of changing it between $20-30 plus the inconvenience.

Three bike shop owners from Utah, being well too familiar with the most common problem of their customers – a flat tire – decided to do something more than the regular repair job and created two airless and tubeless bike tire products – Nexo and Ever Tires – that can simply never go flat.

Nexo looks like a regular tire and attaches to your existing bike rim. More than half of the tire’s interior is filled with a stable gas reducing its weight by up to 40% compared with traditional flat-proof pneumatic tires. Nexo installs in 15 minutes with a patented safety device (T-Bolt), that ensures they stay in the center of rims, preventing rim-out and a twisted tire. Nexo tires’ life is guaranteed up to 3000 miles.

They can come in some fun colors too.

The second model is the Ever Tires, which comes in a complete wheel set (the tire and rim are practically one) resulting in about a pound more in weight, compared to a regular wheel. However, The Ever Tires are even more durable at 5000 miles. Because they are a bit stiffer than regular tires, the makers don’t recommend them for “elitist” bikers or mountain bikers.

The creators call both models eco-friendly, as they are manufactured via an integrated injection molding method which is basically a one step (30-minutes per tire) production process. In comparison, the production of a regular tire takes 9-steps. The production of the flat-free tires is much more economical in terms of labor, materials, and resources.

Both models are currently selling on Kickstarter, with 7 days left till the end of the campaign.
