Science: No, Marijuana Does Not Make You Smarter

Do smarter students smoke more pot?  

According to the video below by DNews, children who tested as having high IQs were more likely to grow up to smoke a lot of pot. The women in the study smoked far greater quantities than the men. Researchers believe that they either turned to the drug as a coping mechanism for being bullied or because intelligent people are more likely to seek novel experiences. 

One thing science has made clear, according to the studies cited in the video below: smoking marijuana does not make you smarter. Though pot is undergoing a renaissance of sorts, with the recent legalization laws passed in Colorado and Washington, “mainstream marijuana” can take a serious toll on society, as Big Think expert Tony Dokoupil explains.
