Lord Rabbi Jonathan Sacks
Chief Rabbi of the United Kingdom
Lord Rabbi Jonathan Sacks has served as the Chief Rabbi of the United Hebrew Congregations of the Commonwealth since 1991. He is the spiritual leader for the mainstream British Orthodox synagogues, the sixth rabbi in that role since it was created in 1845. He received the Jerusalem Prize 1995 for his
contribution to diaspora Jewish life, and was knighted by Her Majesty
The Queen in 2005. He took his seat in the House of Lords in 2009.
